It's a Wonderful Life!

Image
We truly have a wonderful life. Each day we find so many blessings to be grateful for. One of those blessings is this wonderful life ... Kayley is learning and growing so fast! She can point to and say all the body parts requisite to sing "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" plus several others. She knows all her animal sounds and can proficiently feed herself with a spoon (yea!). Kayley is also very kind, sweet, and social. We love our little girl :) Another blessing is this wonderful life ... That's right! We are having another baby! #2 is due June 7th. We are so excited to have this new addition to our family, and can't wait to find out if it is a boy or a girl! Katie has been really sick, but is feeling much better as we move into the second trimester (we're about 16 weeks along). Jeff has been a great support through it all. So for the next few months Katie will be doing a lot of this ... ... eating a lot of this ... ... and encouraging a lot ...

Happy Halloween!

Image
This last weekend we had our ward Halloween party. We had to dress up as a famous couple. Can you guess who we are? It's OK, no one else could either. Would you like a hint? Here's another one That's right! We're Jurassic Park! Kayley was a good sport and let us dress her up as a dinosaur for her first "real" Halloween. She was pretty cute toddling around, but don't take our word for it--here's a video (PS-we could only get her to roar like a dinosaur by asking her what a lion said) The party was a lot of fun. Kayley got to go trick-or-treating at some doors they had set up, and there was lots of games and food. To wrap up the Halloween season, Jeff did a pumpkin for the school's pumpkin carving contest. He wanted to try something a bit different this year, something that would stand out in the competition. So instead of carving his pumpkin, he sculpted it.  Three pumpkins and four hours later, and Master Yoda was in...

The Coopers come to Rexburg

Image
What a better way to spend a 3 day weekend then driving 3.5 hrs up to freezing Rexburg to visit your favorite sister and brother-in-law. Whether or not this is true, we're sure glad the Cooper family thought it was! Mom and Pop Cooper, along with Charity and Christian, came for a weekend full of pumpkin carving, marshmallow gun making, and all around fun! Carving our pumpkins, it was so fun to have Charity and Christian join in the tradition!  Christian's Poke Ball pumpkin. It turned out great!  Charity's Cub Scouts pumpkin (she spent this last summer working at a Cub Scout Camp). This was a technically difficult pumpkin, and Charity did an awesome job.  Katie's Beauty and the Beast pumpkin, taken from the playbill of the Beauty and the Beast Broadway musical. All three. They really turned out great! The next day, Jeff, Charity, and Christian decided to make marshmallow guns--or in this case, marshmallow feeders, considering that their intention w...

Once Upon a Summer...

Image
Once upon a summer the Barton family moved to Salt Lake City to do an internship. This was the first time since its formation that the Barton family had not been enrolled in school for the summer! We tried to do just about everything, and pretty much accomplished that goal. Now we are back in good ol' Rexburg. There are lots of great things about being back, even though we do miss spending so much time with our families. One of the first things our friends and neighbors in Rexburg said when they saw Kayley again was, "Wow, she's really tan!" When we look back on all we did this summer, it's easy to see why! (As a side note, our camera was dead all summer with no sign of the charger anywhere, so we are missing quite a few pictures. All the ones we do have, we have borrowed from family--thanks family!) I. DUDE THATS NOTHIN-MINI GOLF EDITION The summer started out with another great video from Jeff and his brother Derek (if you've yet to see the original...

Patriotism and a Picture Re-Do

Image
First: Patriotism Kayley got a cute 4th of July outfit from Grandma Merilee. Here she is ready to celebrate the USA! She loved waving the flag :)  Next: the picture re-do When Kayley was 2 weeks old, we put her and her cute cousins in matching ballet outfits As you can see, Kayley is a little too small for hers. She is also too young to do anything but sit all squished in the corner of the couch. Now, 10 months later, she fits! (and can pose for the camera)   We love watching her grow!

Bear Lake Trip

It's been two years since the LAST time we went to Bear Lake. Back then we were newlyweds; this time we got to bring our cute baby :) We had such a fun trip! Kayley, our little water girl, had a blast playing in the lake. But don't take our word for it, you can see for yourself! We had such a fun trip! Sorry there aren't any pictures, our camera battery is dead and the charger is missing :(

Summer Fun!

Image
It's been a while since we've done a post, but we've had a lot going on, the biggest of which has been a move to Utah for the summer! Jeff got an internship in Salt Lake till the beginning of September, so we're living with his parents for the summer. We are having a blast living by so much family. Jeff loves his internship and is getting to learn and do so much. We also celebrated Katie's birthday on June 1st. It was such a fun day. We went to Red Robin with the Cooper's (and some cousins) to celebrate One of the best parts of summer weather has been getting to take Kayley outside. She loves it! These next couple pictures were taken by our dear sister Arika. You can check out other work HERE . She's amazing! Kayley is such a fun, pleasant little girl. She's always happy and smiling. We love our little girl! Kayley loves to crawl over and play the piano. She can do it all by herself and is very proud of it :) Sweet girl
